Water Treatment

Water treatment plants manage critical processes such as drinking water production, wastewater management and industrial water recovery. These facilities are of vital importance for the sustainability of social life and environmental health. Water treatment processes require a large amount of energy, which causes plants to become dependent on a constant supply of energy. A power outage in the treatment processes may disrupt the water purification processes and endanger public health.

The machines and pumps used in water treatment plants must work without interruption. Reliable energy infrastructures is needed for these machines to operate smoothly. At the same time, a large amount of data is generated during the purification processes, and this data needs to be constantly monitored and analyzed. Energy efficiency in water treatment plants is a critical element in terms of reducing costs as well as reducing negative impacts on the environment.

In such facilities, the maintenance and repair of systems should be carried out quickly and effectively. In case of failures, it should be ensured that operations continue with minimum interruption. Maintenance-friendly solutions and modular structures contribute to the smooth operation of water treatment plants. At the same time, it is important that water treatment plants are resistant to environmental conditions, have long-lasting energy infrastructuress and work in accordance with sustainability principles.

The Need for Formatting for High Security:

It is very important for the safe operation of boards for this sector. For this reason, it is recommended to form electrical panels.

The partitioning process, called forming or internal separation in electrical panels, aims to ensure the safety of people and equipment by increasing the security measures inside the panel. This process allows failures (fire, etc.) maximizes safety by keeping it confined in a certain area and preventing technical personnel from contacting the energized parts during the intervention.

There are different levels of formulation in electrical panels. These levels determine the internal structure of the board and the way the partitions are separated. The internal separation at the highest level is called Form 4b. Form 4b means that all sections inside the dashboard are completely separated from each other and provide the highest level of security.

Boards with form 4b formatting are especially preferred in high-risk environments and critical applications. These panels protect both life safety and equipment safety by preventing the spread of malfunctions. In addition, it also provides a safe working environment during maintenance and repair operations.

On boards with form 4b formatting, it is usually recommended to apply a partial cover. Segmented covers facilitate access to only a certain part of the dashboard and protect the security of the sections.

In summary, Forming or internal separation is an important application to improve safety in electrical panels. Different formulation levels offer solutions suitable for different needs and risk levels. In order to provide the highest level of security required by this sector, Form 4b forming and partial cover application are recommended.

The Need for High Corrosion Resistance:

In order to provide the corrosion resistance required by this sector, all EAE Electrotechnical products stand out with their high corrosion resistance in severe environmental conditions.

Corrosion is the process of wear of metals or metal alloys by oxidation or other chemical influences. Electrical panels should be protected from these corrosive effects according to the environmental conditions in which they are located.

• Paint application on DKP sheet: This method can provide a limited protection against corrosion. Although external environments are more corrosive, similar corrosive effects may occur in internal spaces over time. For this reason, the corrosion resistance that is tried to be achieved by applying paint on DKP sheet should not be preferred for use in internal environments.

• Application of paint on galvanized sheet or galvanized sheet: Effective protection against corrosion is provided thanks to this method, which is widely used in industrial environments. It should be generally preferred in both internal and external space applications. It is quite advantageous when evaluated in terms of price and performance.

Ready-made galvanized sheet metal is used in all EAE Electrotechnical products, even if they are painted, which is the second option. This feature increases the corrosion resistance of products in harsh environmental conditions as described above.

The Need for Proper Ventilation:

Especially the frequency converters in the MCC panels used in this sector cause excessive temperature increase. For this reason, there is a need for proper ventilation to prevent the heating of the panels.

The temperature increase directly affects the performance of the devices in the panel or rack cabinet. Temperature rise tests, which are as important as short circuits in panel type tests, are critical for the safe and efficient operation of devices. Since the temperature increase reduces the current carrying capacity, it is necessary to bring the temperature in the panel/rack cabinet to the ideal level with proper ventilation.

The temperature in the panel/rack cabinet, the ambient temperature and the heat-emitting devices located inside (cutter, busbar, server, etc.) thanks to which it rises. This temperature increase is calculated by taking into account the electrical power loss values found in the catalogs of each device used.

The IP protection degree also contributes to the temperature increase by preventing the heat from escaping to the outside. Therefore, it is important to choose the right IP level, not high, for the clipboard/rack cabinet. A high IP protection rating does not always mean better protection, and the wrong choice can lead to excessive temperature rise and, therefore, damage to devices.

After the temperature increase is determined, the panel or rack cabinet can be cooled by the following methods according to the obtained value:

• Natural Ventilation
• Cooling by Fan
• Cooling with Air Conditioning

As EAE Elektrotechnik, you can use our panel Temp heat software for cooling calculations in the panel up to 1600A. Click here to get more information about the PanelTemp. The Need for Accurate Determination of the Degree of IP Protection:

The protection of electrical panels against environmental factors, the determination of the degree of protection against solid and liquid objects is ensured by carrying out the tests determined within the scope of the IEC 60529:1989 standard. These tests are expressed in numbers (IP code) that indicate that the boards provide certain levels of protection.

In the IP code, the first digit indicates the level of protection against solid objects, the second digit indicates the level of protection against liquids.

A high IP rating does not provide sufficient assurance for outdoor use, which does not mean that boards with a high IP level are EXCLUSIVE!

There is a misconception in the market that products with a high IP protection rating can be used outdoors.

Even if the dust and water resistance of products with a high IP protection degree is determined, the exposure time to corrosion in outdoor environments is shorter. In addition, the radiation effect of the sun should also be taken into account. These factors are not taken into account in the IP classification.

In addition, as the IP increases, the heat inside the panel also increases. This also reduces the current carrying capacity of the products. For this reason, it is important to determine the optimal IP value for the dashboard, neither high nor low.

The Need for Accurate Determination of the Degree of IP Protection:

The level of protection against impact is called the IK test in the IEC 62262:2002 standard. In this test, a value is determined by checking that the damage caused by an object dropped from a certain height hitting the dashboard does not affect the IP protection rating of the dashboard. This value indicates the IK level of the cabin. EAE Boards are at the IK10 level, which is the highest level.

The Need for Seismic Resistance:

The fact that Turkey is located in the earthquake zone makes it mandatory to produce non-structural products such as electrical panels and rack cabinets in a way that is resistant to seismic movements. In order to ensure energy continuity and protect life safety during an earthquake, it is of great importance to use sector-independent seismic certified products and strictly follow the manufacturer's installation instructions.

Seismic certification shows that electrical panels and rack cabinets can maintain their structural integrity and maintain their functionality during an earthquake. At the same time, these certificates prove that the products have been tested in accordance with international standards and designed to withstand a certain earthquake intensity.

The correct installation of seismic certified products in the field directly affects the performance and safety of the product. Failure to comply with the installation rules set by the manufacturer may reduce the seismic resistance of the product and may even cause damage during an earthquake.

As EAE Elektrotechnik, we attach great importance to seismic resistance. Our products have been tested and seismic certified in accordance with international standards. In addition, by preparing detailed installation instructions for our products, it is aimed that our customers make a safe and accurate installation.

E-Cabin External Panels

The external factors that panels are exposed to in external environments are much more than in internal environments. Snow, rain, dust, mud, sand, etc. The panel must maintain its structural integrity and function in all these factors. Therefore, external panels must be designed accordingly.

One of the most important accessories in these products is the roof. The roof must be designed appropriately to prevent water from accumulating when the door is opened, and water leakage or running water from the opposite angle must be prevented.

There is a perception in the market that high IP protection degree in external panels means external, but high IP protection degree does not mean external. Although the relationship of products with high IP protection degree with dust and water is defined, the corrosion period in external environments is shorter, and the radiation effect of the sun should also be taken into account, which is not used in IP protection degree. Corrosion resistance is one of the most important points in external panels. You can find our article on corrosion resistance above.
